The album Derafsh Kaviani features the vocals of Shahram Nazeri and compositions by Farid Elhami, in collaboration with the musicians of the Ferdowsi Ensemble. In this work, the traditional instrument Tanbur is used to perform epic recitations from the Shahnameh, alongside ancient vocal traditions such as Hureh and Mor, as well as historical Tanbur modes.

Composer Farid Elhami explains: “The opening pieces of this work begin with the chants of the Gathas. The different sections of the album include: the reign of Zahhak, the birth of Fereydun, Zahhak’s search for Fereydun, Kaveh the Blacksmith, and the conclusion of the story which narrates the downfall of Zahhak.”

The album Derafsh Kaviani has been released by Iran Gam Publishing in two formats: audio (ten tracks) and visual (twelve tracks – 75 minutes). While the Tanbur serves as the main instrument, other instruments are also employed at various points. The composition is arranged in the style of a traditional and modal orchestra.

The visual album, directed and produced by Ahura Zolnoor, incorporates narration, storytelling, animation, and painting.
